Ghana Post to authomate money transfer system

Ghana post is in the process of automating its Instant Money Transfer (IMT) system nationwide to ensure transparency and effective monitoring of cast transfer to customers.
According to the Managing Director of GP, Mr Kofi Dua-Adonteng, some cashiers of the company recently took advantage of the IMT to, currently operatinf manually to embezzle GH¢50,000.
The MD said the manual system delayed monitoring of transactions, adding that some of "our officers take advantage of the lack of quick monitoring system to suppress revenue collected," he added.
He said this took place mostly in the the districts and expressed the hope that the authomation would begin by the end of this year to meet the increasing demands of customers.
Mr Dua-Adonteng said the company was discussing with Fidelity Bank to take over the cash management element of the company adding that that talks were expected to cover a larger collaboration to open banks at the various post offices in the country.
Mr Dua-Adonteng said it would provide internet facilities to the public at at the various post offices since the post office was supposed to serve as a medium for the rural folk to access information via the internet.
