THE Jubilee International Church (Eagles Nest Chapel) in Accra has ended its five-day convention with the launch of a magazine, The Flame of Faith.
The convention, which was held on the theme: “Spiritual Renewal for Total Life Acceleration”, attracted religious speakers from across the country and beyond, including Reverend Dr Lawrence Tetteh, an International Evangelist, and Rev. Eric Kwapong, the General Overseer of the Beacon of Glory International, USA.
Taking his turn to deliver the sermon on the second and third day which dwelt on guarding against offences, Rev. Tetteh told the teeming patrons at the convention that as Christians, it had been the trap of the enemy to use people’s offences against “us to commit evil in retaliation’.
To guard against such deeds, he called on Ghanaians, irrespective of their religious backgrounds to renew their minds by avoiding unnecessary offences committed against us and “neither should we also commit offences against those who offend us”.
He said through offences, the good in society turned out to mar their hitherto good relationship with God, and stressed that “offences would take away our authority, intellect, blindfold you and make us unreasonable”.
Quoting 1 Samuel 16:1 Rev. Tetteh said offences destroyed faith and selfishness accounted for offences and when human beings guarded against committing offences, they normally would avoid creating problems for themselves and others.
Rev. Tetteh, who devoted his second day to healing and anointing the sick, highlighted the need for Christians not to undermine the power of prayer, especially as the country approached a crucial election on December 7.
He said it behoved Ghanaians in general and the clergy in particular to commit the country into the hands of God to ensure a clean and violence-free election.
He commended the leadership of Jubilee International Church, especially its General Overseer, Bishop Bob Hawkson, whom he described as one of his mentors in ministry for the good work he was doing in the country.
Bishop Hawkson, who took his turn to deliver a sermon on the last day of the convention, quoted from the Book of Isaiah 43:28 and called on Christians not to use past events as their reference point, but rather should look ahead.
He gave the assurance that those who waited upon the Lord would have total life acceleration and prophesied to the church that, that was their season of “ sudden divinity”.
