WORK on the 15-kilometre Anyaa-Pokuase road will soon begin with a 20 million euro support from the French Development Agency (FDA). The remaining funds would be provided by the African Development Bank (ADB).
The road — which stretches from Awoshie Junction through to the Motorway Extension linking Anyaa, Ablekuma and Pokuase — when completed, is expected to serve as an alternative route for commuters plying the Achimota-Nsawam road to the northern part of the country.
The Deputy Director in charge of Planning and Development at the Department of Urban Roads, Dr Daniel D. Darku, told the Daily Graphic that work would start as soon as funds for the project were approved.
According to Dr Darku, that particular corridor was at a developing stage and, therefore, the need to provide the area with access roads.
On the second phase, which would be funded separately, Dr Darku said it would be awarded on contract after its design and subsequent approval.
