Madina Presby donates to Weija Leprosarium

AS part of activities marking its 20th anniversary, the Madina District of the Saviour Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at the weekend donated items worth GH¢1,500 to the Weija Leproserium in Accra.
The items included four boxes of key soap, cartons of milk, bags of rice, loafs of bread, fruits, clothing and toiletries.
The church also donated GH¢500 cash to the inmates of the Leproserium.
Presenting the items the Cathecist of the Church, Madam Amma Ampoma Ababio, said as the church commemorated its anniversary which fell on December 19, 2010 there was the need to extend a helping hand to the underprivileged.
She said the church had over the years rendered support to some institutions such as the Accra Psychiatric and Pantang hospitals and noted that the donation was the first to the Leproserium and pledged the church’s commitment to make the gesture a regular exercise.
The theme for the anniversary is: “Let Us Rise Up and Build”.
The Senior Presbyter of the Church, Mr Seth Mensah, stressed the need for religious institutions and individuals to translate the teachings of the Scriptures into action and that the theme for the anniversary found expression in the church’s activities.
The Head Prefect of the Weija Leproserium, Madam Gladys Adobea, thanked the church for the gesture and called on other public spirited individuals and organisations to emulate it.
The Church later held a brief prayer session with the inmates.
