Honda Place Ghana Limited, the authorised sole distributors of Honda vehicles in Ghana, on Thursday launched the Honda Pilot, a sport utility car.
The function, which was held at the Labadi Beach Hotel, saw chief executives of various business-oriented organisations who were present to catch a view of the latest Honda vehicle in town.
The eight-seater Honda Pilot is an addition to a variety of choice for customers who already have in the range, the Honda City, Honda Civic and Honda Accord to choose from.
At the launch, the General Manager of the company, Mr Vishal Goyal, who described Honda as a leading brand name in today's automobile industry, said the sale figure of Honda vehicles was nearly three million per year worldwide.
Extolling the qualities of the vehicle, which he indicated had won a number of international awards, Mr Goyal said it provided innovative Vehicle Cylinder Management (VCM) which helped to offer excellent fuel economy.
He added that the Honda Pilot had an Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure which enhanced occupants’ protection in frontal collisions and that the Variable Torque Management System (VTM) of the vehicle automatically transferred its power to the real wheels at the time of need.
"This is what makes Honda Pilot unmatched in its class of vehicles."
The general manager expressed the company's commitment to provide quality service to its consumers, which he stressed included convenience.
He announced an immediate expansion plan to set up showrooms and workshops in Tema, Kumasi and Takoradi during the year to ensure that customers gain access to premium Honda services throughout the country.
The Minister of Transport, Alhaji Collins Dauda, who was the guest of honour, described the launch as an ample testimony of the confidence investors had in the economy, underscoring the major role transportation played in the development of any economy.
"It is in this vein that the ministry will support and encourage entrepreneurs to invest in the transport sector in line with the commitment to make Ghana a transportation hub of West Africa," he said.
